11:06 am: massage
I need a massage like yesterday. I'm all crunched up. It hurts. But I don't have time to go to Ballard for my usual habitude experience. Anyone know a good LMP on Cap Hill that can take same-day or next-day appointments? My neck and shoulders would appreciate it.

April 10th, 200608:53 pm: Episode 2 is coming soon!
The kids of Capitol Hill High are back in an all-new episode entitled “The Twin Has Spoken,” opening on June 9th at CHAC Lower Level. Episode 2 picks up one month after Elsa (the jilted lover and loser in the Homecoming race) opened fire in the cafeteria. The students continue to navigate through the trenches of adolescent heartache as a few new faces pop up to complicate their lives even further. A grief counselor is brought in to find out what really happened, while a mysterious evil twin arrives straight from the mental hospital! Expect the same cutting one-liners and outlandish behavior coupled with a darker turn of events. If you thought the bloodshed on Homecoming night was shocking…. “Episode 2: The Twin Has Spoken” runs June 9th-July 1st at CHAC Lower Level, 1621 – 12th Ave, Thurs-Sat nights at 10:30pm with two additional Wed all-ages shows on June 14th, 21st and June 28th at 8pm. There will be no show on Friday, June 16th.
March 26th, 200603:06 pm: sleep it away
Last night I sang Karaoke for the first time. I did "Hungry Like the Wolf" with Lolli Popular, figuring a duet was a good way to break in. I was super drunk so no nerves, but the screen totally fucked up and we couldn't see the words. I guess it had been doing it to several people throughout the night. Oh, well. At least I'm not a KV anymore. The TROPICARAOKE PARTY was a sunny delight! All sorts of people showed up with leis, decorations and colorful costumes. I was the only survivor of Oceanic Flight 815. A few people got it, but most people either had to ask or just smiled. It's nice that after over twenty parties, GMP still draws such a crowd. And now, GMP Portland and GMP Las Vegas are in the works! I think GMP: Peoria would be cool. I drank A LOT, but sleeping until 2:00 made it all better. I've been reading more about the shooting. Still not motive it sounds like. It's so senseless. I can't imagine ever being the same if I was in that house and survived. Talk about permanent PTSD. Guns suck. Why does it have to be Monday tomorrow? It's the first day of Spring Qtr so I have to start doing work again. I should do laundry so I have clean clothes for aforesaid work week. Blech.
March 22nd, 200602:00 pm: Join my clique or suffer
Due to a recent realization that the world is just too small, most of my entries will be "Friends Only" from here on out. Unless it's related to publicity and then it's still an all-out assault!
March 16th, 200609:06 am: balls rolling
We had a good meeting with CHAC last night. Things are moving quickly for Episode 2. Before long, I'll be immersed in rehearsals again. I think the break will be long enough, though. It still gives me time for a few mini-vacations, some deep cleaning, shopping and writing. After the meeting, the_dirty_bunny and I decided to go have a drink to celebrate and it turned into a little CHH reunion. We ran into spencert and Ade smoking in front of Manray and were persuaded to join them for a drink. Shortly after, we were joined by joerandazzo and his friend, Nick, who had ties to Bellingham that I didn't quite make out due to noise/drinking. From there we headed to the Bus Stop (or "Ground Zero" as Jason S. calls it) and ran into Rodney & Gary. It could have turned into a night of too many drinks, but my hunger pains trumped my thirst. The night ended, as so many do, at Taco Bell. So tasty and yet so disgusting. It's finals week at UW and next week is Spring Break. Great time to get caught up and clean my office. Or not. Dan and I are going to see that Bridget Jones witch play on Saturday night if any of you are interested. I feel like I should see more shows for karma and all that.
March 13th, 200609:46 am: Normalcy
I had a very pleasant weekend. The Salish Lodge was beautiful and our massage was delicious (though my massuese touched my balls). We had drinks up in the Attic Bistro, which overlooks the falls and then dinner in the Dining Room (which was kind of overpriced, overrated). The next day we drove to North Bend, which is somewhat of an armpit. The only food options seemed to be fast food (except for the MarT that was off the beaten path). After having 'breakfast' at Taco Time, we went to the strip mall known as the "Factory Stores." Basic outlet junk stores mostly (Dress Barn, Shoe Pavillion, etc). However, I did manage to score incredible deals on kid stuff - clothes at Osh Kosh and some toys at another store. There was also a great party/paper store that I would return to if ever in need of party supplies. The sister/nephew birthday extravaganza got pushed to Sunday since my mom had a cold so Saturday night we watched movies after going to Bill's for an early supper. First we watched "Junebug" (terrific little film) and then "Office Killer" (entertaining, creepy, and featuring Molly Ringwald!). Finally, we're starting to burn through netflix again. Sunday we had brunch at Coastal Kitchen with Lindsay - in town from LA and then cleaned/did taxes/organized. That evening was the aformentioned birthday blow-out at my parents' house. It was nice to have a weekend of normal hours, normal eating times and no hangovers. It was fun living like a teenager during the run of the play, but it was starting to take its toll on my system. I started reading Ridiculous, per djeltoro's recommendation. I'm barely into it, but it's interesting so far. It's important for non-fiction to be concise, I think.
March 10th, 200609:31 am: out of here
For the love of God, would someone just write KEXP a big fat check and be done with it? My alarm woke me up to that freakin' pledge drive all week! I'm leaving work at noon today and we're heading out to the Salish Lodge for a night. Massages at 3, dinner at 6:15, lots and lots of relaxation and hot tubbing. I can't wait. I kind of woke up with the sniffles, but hopefully the spa will get it all out of me. Dan is just getting over being sick and I just found out my mom has the flu or something. It's everywhere. Airborne, Airborne! Last night we wrapped up Episode 1 and began talking about Episode 2. We meet again next Wed to hammer out dates and things. CHAC insisted on giving me a royalty check. It's my first time being paid as a playwright. I've been paid for freelance (short stories, film reviews, etc), but not for any of my plays. It's kind of weird. But I guess it's a step in the right direction.
March 6th, 200608:19 am: The gays never win
What a crazy weekend! I could really use another day to recuperate, but at least I didn't come down with a cold like the_dirty_bunny. Friday after work was First Fridays happy hour at Linda's, which was relaxed and spirited with the right mix of people from different avenues. We had to jet out just after 7 to make it down to WET for Swimming in the Shallows. Tonight is closing and it's already sold out. Good for them. They did a fantastic job with it. I was humbled by the staging, lighting, performances and tightness of the script. It's what fringe theater should be: edgy, forward-thinking, interesting, and accessible. I'll have my eyes out for their next show. Saturday spent the day cleaning and running errands before our post mortem for CHH. That lasted about 4.5 hours, but it was necessary. By the end, we were all tired and starting to lose focus, but a lot was accomplished in a positive way. I'm looking forward to moving on with Episode 2 and making it even more successful than Episode 1. After that, we went to Kozak's and continued to drink for dinner. This led to the drunken decision to keep drinking after 2:00 so craigtrolli, spencert and Josh came over to our place. PBR was sipped (boy did I regret that the next day), food was munched and later the notorious photo shoot took place. Yesterday I felt drunk the entire day, which wasn't such a bad thing. After brunching at Linda's, I retired to the couch to watch the Academy Awards with my sister, parents and Dan. All in all, they went as expected. Except for Crash stealing away the big prize. Wack! It was a great film, but not as sweeping and epic and best picture-y as Brokeback. For all the "progressive thinking" the Academy likes to congratulate itself on, I think it's clear that gay love stories still make better punch lines than winners. Too bad. Now, it's back to business. I get to leave work early on Friday to get out of town for a night!
